As May quickly approaches, as does Phillips de Pury’s Contemporary Art Auction in New York. This auction features some of the finest contemporary artists from the last century including Andy Warhol, Damien Hurst, Cindy Sherman, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Richard Prince. This auction will take place on two dates, May 12th and May 13th, at 450 Park Avenue. Prices for the over 400 featured pieces range from $50,000-$12,000,000. Though the auction itself may not seem accessible, all of the works up for auction are on view from April 28th- May 12th at 450 15th street. Some great pieces include artist Kelley Walker’s Black Star Press (2005), Mark Rothko’s Untitled (Red and Orange on Salmon) (1969), Gerhard Richter’s Abstraktes Bild (1988), and ArtSpotNYC’s featured artist George Condo’s The Nudist Couple (2008). This particular auction is one of New York’s biggest annual auctions for contemporary art. The pieces up for auction speak for themselves, they are works of some of the most influential, talented and prominent artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.
