To kick off our blog we thought we’d feature a new exhibit whose time at the Steven Kasher Gallery is fleeting. It’s the Charles Moore: Civil Rights and Beyond exhibit. Charles Moore (1931-2010) was a Life Magazine Civil Rights photographer. He is well known for his candid and accurate depiction of the struggle for Civil Rights in the South in the 1960s. This exhibit is definitely a very emotional experience but is really worth seeing. Moore’s photographs of the Birmingham Campaign in 1963 were supposedly influential in the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This exhibit is only up until May 7th so you should go as soon as possible. The Steven Kasher Gallery is located on 521 West 23rd Street between 10th and 11th Avenues.
